Mary Hepple is a special education consultant and advocate with more than
25 years of experience. She has taught children in urban, rural and suburban
school districts providing both classroom instruction and itinerant services
for children from pre-school through high school, specializing in children
with severe communication disorders. Since moving to Maryland from the
Midwest in 1986, she has been providing advocacy and educational consultation
to families of children with special needs. For 8 years she was affiliated
with the Kennedy Krieger Institutes Child and Family Support Program,
and for 2 years served as the Educational Director of the Bridges School
of the Hearing and Speech Agency. Returning to Kennedy Krieger in 1995,
she served as the Educational Specialist for the Center for Autism and
Related Disorders at Kennedy Krieger Institute until January 2000 at which
time she decided to devote full time to her private consulting and advocacy
practice. Mary has successfully advocated for children in the Baltimore
Metropolitan area including Baltimore City, Baltimore, Harford, Cecil,
Howard, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Frederick, Charles, Prince Georges
and Montgomery Counties. Mary is active in several statewide advocacy
organizations including the Educational Advocacy Coalition for Student
with Disabilities and served the Board of Directors for the Baltimore
Chesapeake Chapter of the Autism Society of America for 8 years.
